Suffering like the weather is always present in some form. Neither good nor bad, scripture does not condemn or defend. It is there like the backdrop unfurled, part of the set design for life.

Where there is suffering however, there is always hope. (Isaiah 53)

The first family introduced in Genesis, in the whole bible, is dysfunctional. This somewhat sets the scene as there is no model family or relationship portrayed. The breakdown of relationship is highlighted with regularity within the pages. Where kingdom family thrive and progress is not with holding it all together but by letting it go, with forgiveness and grace.

Through Him and with Him, a restoration takes place, a transformation from distortion to gem stone. From disconnection to connection. From isolation to community. From black to hope.

It’s not a language, exclusively tethered to the original dialect, it’s not a distribution deal with caveats, it’s not the rules for a golf club. It’s not a book, it’s a message.

Through Pentecost it became universal, multilingual, liquid, a flame, a fire.

Storm

Opposition leaders dragged across the park by storm troopers. After the establishment comes the questioning and when questioning has no forum then comes the revolutions.

Answers, deviate destruction from its course, shape shifters that can diffuse revolution into resolution. Protest into transformation.

The golden calves are long gone replaced by far more sinister focal points. The object of worship for the 21st Century. Self.

Factory

A production line for the darker thoughts. An industry for the bitter and scared. A place where all my insecurity gathers to riot.

Factory.

Like Jeroboam, I can manufacture milestones that should not exist on my journey. These products change my direction. Whether they are desperate golden statues to save a kings career, or a revelation about my character being less than golden hearted.

These production plants will choke the hope out of me.

Idol factories emerge when the signal between me & Him is lost. When reception is off grid, when I feel He is not listening; does not care; has ignored me.

I can produce anything to make me feel better, to make me feel in control but faith is not a mass produced unit. Faith is not a golden calf.

When the factory workers get together, give me the strength to refuse entry. The gates remain locked.

Hope outweighs control.
Belief dwarfs circumstance.

Who sets the speed limit for my life? Him? Me? Society?

Travelling fast does not facilitate intimacy in relationships.

Increased volume in my output does not allow me to hear Hope when He speaks.

Where is my remote control? The mute button for my noise. I talk endlessly, when do I actively listen.

Create positive space in my life where there are no words but His.

Sometimes, we scramble, like a doctor trying to listen to a patients heart without a stethoscope. We have ‘in ears’ but no sound.

I want to find Him & hear Him, every day.

So much positivity. Lennon said it was the Yes on the ceiling, at the Indica gallery where Yoko was exhibiting, that inspired him to stay.

Yes is what Israel reassured God and themselves that they would adhere to, in Joshua 24.

Yes is what I wanted to live by and failed so often. Yes is what I believe. Yes to Him is where I rest my hope.

I say yes every morning because I believe in this narrative, this journey from distortion to gem stone. Yes.
